ABOUT THE PROJECT

AIM OF THE PROJECT
The project aims to enhance inclusive education for students with special educational needs (SEN) by integrating Augmented Reality (AR) into learning environments. It seeks to create sensory-rich, interactive educational materials that respond to the diverse and evolving profiles of SEN students, improving engagement, comprehension, and retention. At the same time, the project focuses on empowering educators with the digital skills needed to design and use AR-based resources effectively. By addressing educational inequities and filling the current gap in AR-supported materials across partner countries, the project aspires to set a pioneering model for inclusive and innovative education in Europe.
OBJECTIVES
-
Transform SEN learning through AR materials: Develop interactive AR flashcards in subjects such as Math, Chemistry, Natural Sciences, and EFL to make learning multisensory and engaging, improving students’ understanding and addressing key learning challenges.
-
Equip teachers with methodological knowledge: Provide theoretical and practical training on SEN profiles, developmental disabilities, and effective AR use to promote inclusive and adaptable teaching approaches.
-
Enhance digital competencies for inclusive education: Train educators to design and apply AR-based learning, fostering personalized, student-centered environments and improving teaching practices.
-
Create a sustainable e-learning course on AR: Develop a comprehensive, self-paced online course guiding teachers in AR integration, accessibility, and engagement, ensuring long-term digital transformation in special education across Europe.

RESULTS
-
AR Learning Flashcards
Development of interactive AR flashcards in various subjects — Math (basic operations), Natural Sciences (space, plants, energy, environment, geography), and English (colours, numbers, animals, emotions, values). These materials will make learning more visual, engaging, and accessible for SEN students. -
Teacher’s Guidebook
A theoretical resource providing information on learning disabilities, SEN student profiles, and the use of AR in education. It will help teachers understand how SEN students learn and think, and how AR can support their engagement through immersive experiences. The guide will be available online and in audio-video format. -
E-Learning Course on AR for Special Education
A comprehensive, self-paced online training that equips teachers with practical skills to design and use AR-based materials for SEN students. This course will serve as a sustainable professional development tool, fostering the long-term integration of digital innovation in special education.
